America's Team Season 1, Music’s Healing Side and More

The Rareform Rundown #77
Hello Friends,
Nathan here, hope all is good on your end. This week we’re sharing a new project we were part of, a breakthrough study on how music might actually help regulate blood pressure, and the curious world of plants making their own kind of music through bio-sonification.
Let’s get on with it!

New projects + music we are looking for
PROJECTS
Excited to share that United As One (Instrumental), a track I worked on with Darby Phillips, was featured in the Final Trailer for America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys! Always cool seeing music find its place in a story like this. Big thanks to Netflix for bringing us along for the ride.
Another fun one! Eye for an Eye, a track I worked on with Darby Phillips, was featured in another Oh, Hi! spot. Big thanks to our friends at LIVEBAD for having us again on this one!

Our On Rotation playlist on Spotify just got a fresh update with the tracks we’re vibing right now! Always good to keep it moving and feel free to check it out and see what’s been on repeat for us.

Here’s something interesting we came across. A new study suggests that the structure of music might actually influence blood pressure. The idea is that when a track has clear, predictable phrasing, our bodies can lock into the rhythm more easily. That sync between the music and the listener’s internal rhythms seems to help keep things more stable. What stood out to us was how much phrasing matters. When a song follows patterns that are easy to anticipate, listeners’ cardiovascular rhythms were more likely to line up with the flow of the music. Basically, if you can sense where the music is going, your body tends to respond in a steadier way.
It’s a pretty simple takeaway but a powerful one, music doesn’t just move us emotionally, it can also have real physical effects when the structure connects with our system.

There’s something fascinating about the idea of plants making music. It sounds out there, but it’s real. Artists and researchers have been experimenting with ways to turn the hidden signals inside trees into sound, and the results are nothing short of surprising.
If you’re curious about how a willow tree can end up “composing” through a device called PlantWave, and how it all connects back to the same tools musicians use every day, read more in the full post.

That’s it for this week!
