Clio Highlights, New AI Moves, Human Side of Music

The Rareform Rundown #88

Hello Friends,

Nathan here. Hope your week’s been steady. I’ve got a quick lineup of updates for you, including a look at the recent AI licensing moves from Klay and the majors, a new piece on how emotional awareness plays into the creative process, and a short update on the Clio Entertainment season where we were able to contribute to a few of the campaigns featured this year.

Let’s jump in!

New projects + music we are looking for

PROJECTS

We had the privilege of remixing the score of Nuremberg for this campaign! Huge thanks to Sony Pictures Classics for including our work!

Excited to finally share this update. Haukur Karlsson and I put together a remix of Bach’s Violin Concerto, and I’m hyped to share that it was featured in the Women’s Euro. Appreciate our friends at Fox Sports for bringing us in on this one!

Instagram Reel

We’re excited to have been part of a few campaigns highlighted in this year’s Clio Entertainment season! Through Black Sheep Music, our team contributed music and sound design across select projects that were recognized. Grateful for the chance to support creative work that brings strong ideas together.

Klay, a music technology company, has finalized AI licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group. With these deals, Klay becomes the first AI music startup to secure partnerships with all three major labels. The agreements outline how AI driven music tools can be developed within a defined rights management structure, which continues to be a key topic across the industry.

For this week’s blog, I wanted to dig into a topic that doesn’t usually get much attention in music conversations. We spend a lot of time talking about plugins, workflow tricks, or whatever new idea is sparking inspiration, but there’s another layer that quietly shapes everything we do. How we read a room, handle pressure, and navigate our own reactions can influence the entire creative process. That kind of awareness can help keep sessions from stalling out and can make collaborations feel a lot smoother.

The full post breaks down why this matters and how it shows up in day to day music making. You can read the full blog on my personal site.

Until next week, appreciate you being here!

-Nathan
