Dispatch #2

Hello Friends,

I’m back again with the week's recap from the front line. So, what's the story this week? Well, it's been jam-packed - early mornings, late nights, and riding the rollercoaster of “highs and low” as they say. We confirmed more sound design elements of ours being used in the campaign for 'The Fall Guy,' which has been exciting to see continue on over what I believe has been the last 6 months. On the flip side, a few clients decided to “head in a new direction” after we put in some blood, sweat, and tears into some customs we've been working on. But hey, that’s the game, right? Oh, and the big news? We’ve got a massive trailer remix locked-in that we’ll be able to share next week.

This week’s been a reminder to just roll with it, keep hammering away, and stay jazzed about the work. Stick around long enough, keep growing, keep learning, keep pushing, and things start to click.

I’m excited to have received a bunch of topic requests so far and believe it or not, the most common request has been to dive into the world of sync and how to get placements. So, to kick things off, check out out the discussion below:

More Things!

New Blog Post

This week I did a quick write up on the Rareform Audio site explaining the complexities of music copyrights, the painstaking progress of clearing music and explained how we solve this problem at Rareform when it comes to repping music one-stop, a term that many of you may know and some are just now hearing for the first time! Check it out below:

New Tools

Voxengo SPAN (Spectrum Analyzer)

This week’s tool is for the audio production folks out there. I don’t know about you but I use level meters all the time to see where everything is sitting in my tracks, especially the bass. Voxengo SPAN is a free spectrum analyzer that is extremely handy, see the specs below!

  • Stereo, mono, mid-side spectrum analyzer

  • 7.1, 5.1 surround sound spectrum analyzer

  • Stereo correlation meter

  • EBU R128, K-system meter

  • RMS, true peak level, and clipping detector

Quote of the week: “Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating.”

Productivity Hack of the Week

Single-Tasking: This might sound goofy to consider a hack and counterintuitive in a world that celebrates multitasking, but lately, I've found focusing on a single task to be incredibly challenging. My attention is constantly diverted, whether by an "urgent email," a Slack message from my team, or a call from a client, as we juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

In response, I've taken significant steps to ensure I can concentrate when necessary. This includes entrusting my team with my email accounts to filter messages based on priority, allowing me to dedicate my full attention to one task at a time. And the impact? It's been remarkable.

Approaching work in this focused manner, rather than hopping from one task to another and losing track of where I was, has greatly improved my productivity and quality of work. Not to mention, the phone—arguably the biggest distraction of all—has been kept at bay.

Over & Out

My friends, it is much appreciate having you along for the ride. Have a great weekend and a lovely week ahead. We’ll continue the discussion next week!
