Healing Through Music + How To Spot AI-Generated Songs

The Rareform Rundown #80

Hello Friends,

Nathan here, hope all’s good in your world. This week I’ve got a couple of projects to share, some news on how music can help in intensive care and even bring comfort to people who are terminally ill, and a look at AI in music with a few ways to tell when a song might be machine made

Let’s dive in!

New projects + music we are looking for

PROJECTS

Excited to announce that Ghost Ship, a track I worked on with Haukur Karlsson from the Curious Affair album, was featured in the official trailer for Compulsion! We also created the sound design elements in this spot!

Our sound design made it into the campaign for The Conjuring: Last Rites! Shout out to our partners at Warner Bros. for bringing us into the mix.

We came across an interesting research that we thought was worth sharing. Turns out music therapy can actually help patients in intensive care. The study showed that when music was added alongside regular treatment, patients had lower heart rates, reduced blood pressure, and even synced up better with ventilators.

Wild to think about how much impact music can have, even in such a serious setting.

AI is starting to change the way music is made and shared. These tools can turn a short text prompt into full songs, complete with lyrics, melodies, and even vocals. For most people just listening, that might not matter much. But for others, it raises the question of whether a track was created by a person or a machine. What’s wild is how tough it’s getting to tell the difference just by listening.

That’s why our team put together a blog on how to spot AI-generated songs.

That’s it for now, thanks for hanging with me! Take care out there, friends.
