Indie Music Search! Call of Duty Black Ops 7, Puerto Rican Sound, and More

The Rareform Rundown #99
Hello Friends,
Nathan here. We got a brief for you below calling out indie producers!
Briefs aside I’ve been coming across a few things lately that made me pause and think about sound a little differently, so I wanted to share them with you. One touches on how artists like Bad Bunny are shaping music by staying true to where they’re from, and the other looks at how sound can still have meaning even when we can’t hear it. Nothing heavy, just interesting ideas worth passing along.
Let’s dive in!

New projects + music we are looking for
PROJECTS
Really excited to share that our track Bomb Squad, made with Darby Phillips, was featured in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Warzone spot. It’s part of the BSM053 Firewall album, and it’s wild to hear it come alive in the game. Big thanks to our friends at Activision for having us on this one!
RPM MUSIC SEARCH
It’s been a minute since we dropped a brief here.
We’re looking for instrumental tracks across three indie lanes inspired by FX Network and the vibe of The Bear. If you’re interested, we’d love to hear anywhere from 1–10 tracks.
This is for our new production music imprint, RPM. These would be exclusive and follow the standard production music model, meaning earnings are primarily backend PRO royalties over time from broadcast/TV (not upfront sync fees). Just want to be transparent right out of the gate.
If you’re interested, reply here and I’ll connect you with our RPM catalog manager, Yssa, to take it from there.
Timeline:
We need final options by Thursday next week
If we move forward, please send your first batch by Monday or Tuesday so we have time to listen and request any tweaks
Styles/References

Bad Bunny’s career over the past decade shows how language and regional sound are no longer limits in music. Starting with independent online releases and now reaching major industry milestones, he’s helped make Spanish-language music, especially Puerto Rican Spanish, a central part of the global music conversation.
At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, his album DeBí Tirar Más Fotos (I should have taken more photos) took home Album of the Year, the first fully Spanish-language record to earn the honor. The album stands out for its mix of reggaeton, pop, electronic, and experimental sounds, showing both creative range and a strong sense of place. Its recognition highlights a music industry increasingly open to diverse voices and sounds.

A new study caught our attention recently, not because of flashy headlines, but because it quietly reframes how sound works in the world around us. Researchers found that some insects can pick up on ultrasonic sounds coming from plants under stress, and they actually use that information to make decisions. These are frequencies far beyond human hearing, yet they still carry real meaning for the listeners tuned into them.
What makes this especially interesting is that the plants are not trying to communicate. The sounds are a byproduct of internal changes, like shifts in water flow when a plant is dehydrated. To us, it is complete silence. To certain insects like moths, it is a useful signal about whether a plant is viable or not. It is a reminder that sound does not need an audience like us to matter.
For anyone working in audio, this research is a subtle but powerful nudge. Frequency is more than a technical parameter, it shapes perception, behavior, and interpretation depending on who or what is listening. As playback systems and immersive formats continue to expand, it is worth thinking beyond what we can hear and considering what sound might be doing outside our own range of perception.

Alright friends, wrapping it up here. Thanks for following along!
