Rareform Production Music, Gaming + Even More on AI (lol)

The Rareform Rundown #66

Hello Friends,

Nathan here. We’ve got a packed one for you this week. From some real-world mix advice for composers to more info on AI in creative fields to what game devs need to know about music, we’re diving into all of it. Plus, we’re officially opening up Rareform Production Music to new contributors.

Let’s get into it.

New projects + music we are looking for

PROJECTS

Another one in the mix to share! My track No Time Left was featured in the spot for Hell of a Summer! Always cool to see the different types of spots where things land.

Stoked to share this one! Our track Atomic Nuke by Adrian Nicholas Valdez was featured in this spot for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Discussions inspired by community questions

This is some feedback I have shared on here before and I give to composers practically every week regarding their mixes/masters. Hope it helps for all of you music creators out there!

If you find it helpful and wanna hit subscribe that would be greatly appreciated!

We have officially shared Rareform Production Music [RPM] publicly! You may have seen us slowly roll it out here a little while back.

We are currently seeking more reality TV style composers who’d like to contribute a selection of tracks! If you are interested, drop a line here with some examples of your work and I can forward you to our new catalog manager to check out.

A new report just dropped looking at how generative AI is starting to shake things up in the creative world. It surveyed over 300 freelance creatives, and people within the creative jobs are feeling the pressure. Job security, fair pay, and ownership are all big questions right now.

There’s a lot of excitement around the tech, but also a lot of real concern. When the tools start changing faster than the rules, it’s tough to know where you stand. Definitely something worth keeping an eye on.

Game dev is wild. You’ve got a million things going at once like the design, story, mechanics, visuals, all of it. Every piece matters. But here’s the thing. You can have the most insane-looking world and gameplay that feels super dialed in, and still, if the sound doesn’t land, it’s just not going to feel right.

Good music and sound design don’t just sit in the background. They drive the energy, set the tone, and help everything click. It’s what pulls the whole thing together.

Our team just put together a blog on Why Game Developers Need High-Quality Music and Sound. If you're building worlds, telling stories, or just trying to make gameplay feel right, this one’s for you!

That’s it for this wee. I appreciate y’all!

Nathan
