The Rareform Rundown #21

Hello Friends,

Nathan here, this week we dive into some new music vibes my team is looking for, sound design placements, blockchain technology in the music industry, and how I backup my projects to make sure I’m always covered no matter what.

Let’s get on with it!

New projects to announce + music we are looking for

For this week the main sync we have to announce is our Black Sheep Music sound design being used throughout the campaign of American Sports Story (trailer not release yet). Here’s a little blurb about the production:

“The first installment of FX’s American Sports Story is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe and Wondery. The 10-episode limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.”

My team and I are currently (and pretty much always) looking for next level Hybrid/Cinematic/EDM/Trap tunes for trailers and videogames.

Discussions inspired by community questions

This week’s discussion is a little more techy than syncy (is that a word?) I discuss my hard drive and backup setup as it is extremely important for creatives to not lose their projects! It’s not a matter of IF something will happen, but WHEN it will happen. Once you have a terrible nightmare incident you will never not back things up ever again. More info below:

Have a topic or question you’d like me to discuss in the future?

Last week we talked about how AI startups are facing legal consequences, yet there are other new technology advances that are interesting to watch come to life. This week we discuss how Blockchain is having it’s effect on the music industry.

Creative friends! As I discussed above, backing up your projects, computers and hard drives is crucial. Not only do I have physical backup drives in case a drive fails and I need a replacement in that exact moment, but I use Backblaze to backup my computer and external drives so if my gear ever gets stolen or even if my house burns down, I’ll still have everything on the cloud.

Speaking of backups, this is one of my favorite external hard drives. 8TB (other sizes is available too), solid state and tiny!

That’s it for this week!
